The person behind Fatamorgana
Maria Agnese Spagnuolo, also known professionally as Fatamorgana, was born in Apulia on the countryside where she grew up on a farm. There is where she found as well her passion for nature and especially fruit trees, which were cultivated next to vegetables for the family’s own consumption.
“The colours and flavours of my land provided a world of discovery, but I was especially attracted to smells. Even today, when creating new combinations, I let smells guide my imagination.”
At the same time, Agnese was a big ice cream fan and coming across the cookbook with 214 recipes entitled “Italian traditional ice cream” on a flea market started her future career.
